Richard Sapper designed Artemide’s Tizio series, which has since become a design icon. Designed by a German living in Italy, it was inspired by the lack of suitable lighting in his own work area. Therefore, he created the Tizio in 1972, whose characteristics have earned it a place in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art: a small head that casts a beam of light where it is needed; the precision of this lamp is due to its two articulated arms, to which counterweights are attached, allowing the Tizio 50 to move a full 360 degrees. And that’s not all: once the arms of the lamp are oriented, they remain in position. Artemide Tizio 35, for example, is equipped with a low-voltage halogen bulb so that its arms can be used as an electric circuit to avoid the presence of electrical cables
