Pinecone is a table and suspension lamp. The diffuser is made with the ancient caged blown glass technique, in which the glass maker blows molten glass into a cage that partially contains the blob’s expansion. In this way, the glass surface is partly trapped by the cage and partly escapes it, generating tension as the object struggles to free itself from its harness; the cage is further enriched by the galvanic treatment that makes it look gleaming and brilliant. The transparent version, in particular, presents a two-fold structure that multiplies the scenic effect, while the metal cage pattern creates kaleidoscopic shade effects on the surrounding surfaces. In contrast, the white version of the cage features an elegant and visually pleasing diffused light that elegantly envelops the cage surface and highlights its geometric pattern. Whether switched on or off, the lighting fixture makes a strong impact.
