Eleven 73V pendants are randomly arranged and suspended from a rectangular canopy to form the piece 73.11V. The pendants' drop lengths are randomly chosen from a client-specified range of heights to alternately cluster and scatter them. An ambient installation or field of light is the end product.
In order to create the 73V, liquid glass is blown into a vessel made of folded, extremely heat-resistant ceramic cloth. The final shape has a formal and textural expression one would naturally identify with fabric, and as it cools, it solidifies and becomes stiff. Each 73V is entirely unique in terms of size, form, and proportion.
